Robogals is an international, student-run organization aimed at increasing female participation in STEM through hands-on activities targeted towards elementary and middle school girls. They do this by engaging girls in the Atlanta area in these topics with school visits and fun activities using LEGO NXT robots.

CEISMC Summer Intern

This is a great experience!  Several HTS majors have participated in the program and it has led to full-time post-graduation employment.

Education: High school diploma and at least one year of college.
Experience: Prefer the candidates have at least one year experience working or
volunteering with students ages K-12. Prefer students that are familiar with the Georgia Tech campus.
Duration: May 31, 2016 – July 29, 2016, 40 hours/week
Duties: This position will serve CEISMC’s elementary, middle, and high school
Summer Programs for Enrichment and Accelerated Knowledge in STEM (PEAKS). Summer PEAKS runs through June and July. Applicants must have prior experience working or volunteering with K-12 aged students. Applicants should have leadership experience, experience in providing quality customer service, and the ability to speak effectively with students, parents and instructors.

The CEISMC Intern’s role will include, but is not limited to: 1) checking students in and out with parents when they arrive/leave campus, 2) supervising group of students throughout daily activities, 3) taking students to the Student Center daily for lunch and monitoring them while eating, 5) taking students to various locations on campus for tours and lectures, 6) supervising students during recreation time at CRC Crawford Leisure pool, 7) keeping track of student meal cards, 8) assisting instructor during parent presentation every Friday, 9) fulfilling tasks associated with the day-to-day in-office operations of Summer Camps, 10) completing a summer-long deliverable at the end of internship.

This year’s summer intern project will include topics such as Marketing for Philanthropic
Relationships, Program Marketing Media Development, and Program Evaluation. We are seeking students with an interest and skill set matched for such projects. Please be sure to include you qualifications and/or relevant coursework for specific a intern project in your cover letter.

The CEISMC Intern is a valued member of a small team running Summer PEAKS. The intern reports directly to the Program Coordinator overseeing Student Programs. The intern must welcome positive direction and suggestions, possess a strong work ethic, and be customer service oriented. The intern is the direct contact for parents on a daily basis and represents CEISMC. Activities and decisions are varied in nature, which to some degree requires independent action and judgment in solving common problems. Some physical activities are involved such as walking long distances and lifting heavy boxes.

Interviews will be held in March. A background check is required for this position.

The Science Policy Fellow for the IDA Science and Technology Policy Institute (STPI) in Washington, D.C is currently recruiting a new class of Fellows for 2015-2017. The Science Policy Fellows program is for recent bachelor’s and master’s degree recipients with backgrounds in engineering, life sciences, physical sciences, social and behavioral sciences, computer science, mathematical sciences or statistics, and learning sciences. STPI provides high-quality, objective, analytical support to the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy in the Executive Office of the President and other Federal Government organizations. This two-year program provides a unique opportunity for recent graduates to gain science and technology policy experience. Policy research will focus on areas such as energy and the environment, space sciences, innovation and competitiveness, evaluation, life sciences, information technologies, national security, and STEM education.

The Center for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning (CETL) is seeking a dynamic professional to fill the position of Educational Outreach Coordinator I for the GoSTEM Initiative. GoSTEM is a 5-year collaboration between Georgia Tech and the Gwinnett County Public School District to enhance the educational experience of Latino students in Georgia and strengthen the pipeline of these students into post-secondary STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) education.

The Educational Outreach Coordinator will report to the GoSTEM Program Director. The position will assist with program implementation, administration, student supervision, field trip coordination, and event planning support for GoSTEM.

The Homeland Security and STEM Summer Internship Program for Summer 2013 is accepting applications now until January 15, 2013.

Whitefoord Elementary and Toomer Elementary are seeking undergraduate and graduate students (postdocs, staff, and faculty also welcome) to lead activities in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) for students in grades 3-5. Sessions will take place on Thursdays from 3:00-4:30pm (add time for travel/setup and cleanup) twice per month (once at each school) from October through April. They are looking for several general volunteers to assist current planned activities related to Edible School Yard programs, earth science (soil, weathering, rocks, fossils) and evolution. Students interested in designing and leading their own activities related to the topics most important to the schools are also needed.  Volunteers committed to attending multiple sessions at one or both of the schools are preferred, one-time volunteers will also be accepted.

Interested in sharing your expertise and love of STEM concepts? Consider being an instructor in the 2012-2013 K.I.D.S. Club through Tech’s Center for Education Integrating, Science, Mathematics, and Computing (CEISMC). K.I.D.S. Club is a program in which hundreds of students in grades 2-5 visit the Georgia Tech campus on Saturdays to participate in hands-on Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) activities. This program is designed to develop students’ interest and passion for STEM learning.  You do not have to be a STEM major to participate!

Each year, dozens of GT faculty and students and metro K-12 teachers help K.I.D.S. Club members better understand the world in which we live. As an instructor, you will design your own 55 minute hands-on activity to share with club members as well as receive compensation for your time. The staff at CEISMC will provide assistance to help you plan.  Don't want to be an instructor?  Assistant and tutoring opportunities are also available.
