The English Teaching Assistant (ETA) Programs place individuals in classrooms abroad to provide assistance to the local English teachers. ETA’s help teach English language while serving as cultural ambassadors for the U.S. The age and academic level of the students varies by country, ranging from kindergarten to university level. Applicants for English Teaching Assistant Programs can apply to only one country, must be U.S. citizens at the time of application and have earned a bachelor’s degree or the equivalent before the start of the grant. Many other fellowships are available for students at different stages in their studies (undergraduate, graduate and post doctoral level). The Georgia Tech Fellowships Office can help you find out which fellowships may be a good fit.
Applications for ETA are accepted May 1 – October 1, 2014.

The Georgia Tech campus deadline has passed, but any student interested may apply as an at-large candidate. At-large candidates must submit their applications through the Embark online application system by the deadline on the Fulbright website no later than October 17, 2012 (5:00 p.m., Eastern Time). At-large candidates are responsible for ensuring that all supporting documents are attached to the online application. Students interested in applying should begin the process of obtaining the three recommendations immediately as this component can often take the longest.

Georgia Tech students are encouraged to apply for Fulbright awards available in 140 countries around the world. Through Fulbright students may 1) do research, 2) a one-year degree program, or 3) be an English teaching assistant.
Seniors and graduate students may apply next fall. Students at all levels are invited to learn about the Fulbright program. Students must be US citizens.
The campus deadline for Fulbright applications is September 16, and students need to work with Dr. Karen Adams this spring (karen.adams@provost.gatech.edu) to begin work on the application. Students are urged to make an appointment with Dr. Adams asap to learn what is needed in a letter of invitation and for preparation of essays.
Information about the Fulbright program for last year can be found at www.fulbrightonline.org. In May the web site will have information about the program for fall applications.
For rising seniors, graduate students, and alumni-- if you've ever considered going overseas to teach English as a second language, you should learn about the Fulbright English Teaching Assistant (ETA) award. This is a one-year program. Tech students have done very well in this competition, the funding is very generous, and the experiences are life changing. Students in any major are eligible. Although the deadline to apply is September 16, this is an application process you want to take very seriously and intentionally. The Core Fulbright Scholar competition for 2011-2012 is now open. Over 800 grants are available for teaching, conducting research, or combining both in more than 125 countries around the globe. The deadline is August 2. For information on Fulbright Scholar Awards, consult our website at www.iie.org/cies, or write to scholars@iie.org.

Undergraduate and Graduate Students interested in applying for Rhodes, Marshall, Fulbright, Gates, Churchill, Mitchell, Goldwater, Truman, Udall, USA Today Academic All Stars, and Nation Science Foundation (NSF) awards should attend an information session on March 4 at 11:00 a.m. in Suite C of the BIll Moore Student Success Center.

The Freeman Indonesia Nonprofit Internship Program (FINIP), funded by the Freeman Foundation and administered by the Institute of International Education, aims to develop student leaders and strengthen the nonprofit sector in Indonesia. IIE will select and pair 10 Indonesian students pursuing U.S. degrees with 10 U.S. undergraduates and arrange internships for them to work together in an Indonesian nonprofit organization.
The 9-week experience, from June 15 to August 17, 2010, arranged by IIE’s partner organization, the Indonesian International Education Foundation (IIEF), will take place in three cities: Jakarta, Bandung and Yogyakarta. All program-related costs will be covered.
Interested American sophomores and juniors and Indonesian freshmen, sophomores, and juniors are encouraged to apply.
