The 2016 National Archives at Atlanta’s annual scholarly symposium, Ethics, Epidemics, and Education: Public Health and the Federal Governmentwill be held Saturday, September 17, 2016. This event culminates a year-long effort to promote research in the National Archives at Atlanta’s estimated 5,000 cubic feet of records that document the Federal Government’s historic involvement in public health. These historic resources are ripe for new scholarship and discovery. The symposium program committee welcomes proposals for presentations from the universities and colleges across the Southeast and beyond.

Scholars in graduate programs and above are encouraged to submit proposals on one of the many possible topics that can be generated from these holdings.

The WULR is an academic legal journal at the University of Washington that publishes law-related essays, research papers, and other written work by undergraduates. The law review is entirely run by undergraduates at the University of Washington.

Submission to the WULR is open to all majors. They value papers on a variety of legal topics, and students are encouraged to submit undergraduate theses or other academic papers. Papers will be selected for publication by the WULR’s executive editors based upon quality of writing, topic, research, and analysis. All submissions accepted for publication may be edited for length and clarity.

CNN is looking for a summer intern to be part of a dynamic team managing multiple hours of live news. Interns have the opportunity to pitch story/guest ideas to show team with research, train on various news operating programs including lexis Nexis, iNews, MediaSource, etc. This Atlanta-based internship will last from June 6th to August 5th 2016 and will be paid. All GAs in the IAC office will be expected to:

· Make arrangements through Rebecca Keane, Director of Communications, for satisfying weekly time commitments for work hours.

· Carry out tasks related to IAC daily tasks and projects as assigned by the IAC Dean and/or IAC Director of Communications in collaboration with others as indicated in the job descriptions below.

· Work in collaboration with other GRAs to make sure that the work flow of projects keeps an appropriate pace for success given needs and expectations.

· Be core members of various IAC event planning teams, as needed, to make sure that all IAC events flow smoothly.

· Work collaborative with each other under the guidance of Rebecca Keane, IAC Communications Officer, and IAC staff to support the development of websites and other communications and marketing vehicles that conform to GT/IAC guidelines, systems, and specifications.

· Function always in a professional manner in carrying out the scope and responsibilities of the position.

GRA Position 1: Communications Writer

Title: Research Associate for IAC Communications – Communications & PR
Location: IAC Dean’s Office – GA is required to work on site in Dean’s office
Supervisors: Rebecca Keane (IAC)
Time Commitment: 13-20 hours per week (spread across 4 days)

Primary Responsibilities

· Manage daily news content for IAC news streams, social media, and monthly newsletter. Gather and/or originate stories, information, and photos. Discern appropriate stories for various communications vehicles and disseminate. Write and post copy, feature stories, and other communications content.

· Manage/update IAC website and events content through Content Management System.

· Create website page copy, content, and graphics.

· Support efforts to build engagement and presence on social media by creating posts, building links and connections and suggesting strategies.

· Manipulate photos and graphics to support stories.

· Event organization and logistics as needed.

· Create and disseminate communication materials to drive attendance for events both internal and external to GT.

· Write press releases.

· Provide administrative support.

· Update and maintain documentation of IAC processes.

· Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills Sets

· The ideal candidate for this position has a journalistic orientation

· Strong writer with knowledge of U.S. English grammar and writing.

· Familiarity with communications tasks.

· Strong familiarity in posting to social media

· Web and tech savvy; familiarity with website content management system (CMS)

· Some design skills are needed. Ability to work in a graphics software for digital and print (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and/or others in CS5+); ability to manipulate photos for graphic use.

· Highly organized. Ability to keep up with many details

· Decisive. Ability to be flexible as tasks may be re-prioritized in fast-moving environment.

· Collaborative, team player.
