English Opens Doors Program of the Ministry of Education in Chile is backed by the United Nations. The program brings native and near-native English speakers to work in Chilean public schools as English teaching assistants. Volunteers focus on improving the speaking and listening skills of students and work to motivate students to practice their English language skills.

JUMPSTART NOW HIRING: Deadline is September 4

Jumpstart is now hiring Corps Members and Team Leaders! Jumpstart is a national early education organization that recruits and trains college students and community volunteers to work with preschool children in low-income neighborhoods. Through a proven curriculum, these children develop the language and literacy skills they need to be ready for school, setting them on a path to close the achievement gap before it is too late. Jumpstart Corps members have the unique opportunity to inspire young children to learn, serve in a local community, work on a team, and build professional skills. All Corps members receive professional-caliber training to help them implement Jumpstart’s outcome-based program, promote children’s school success, and build family involvement. 

Corps members complete an intensive commitment and make a substantial impact in the life of a young child. During the school year, Corps members participate in the following activities: 

The Pre-Teaching program is moving into the Center for Career Discovery and Development on the 1st floor of the Bill Moore Student Success Center. The transition will be complete by August 7.

Did you know that some unpaid internships can be done for academic credit, while paid internships such as the Pre-Teaching internships can be done for audit credit? Audit credit serves as a place holder during the semester but does not count towards the total hours needed to graduate. For example, if you have an internship for six audit credit hours, you only need six more for full-time student status. You do not receive academic credit for the internship, but you also do not pay tuition or fees on the internship hours. Audit credit also assures that your internship goes on your transcript as part of your permanent academic record. Apply for a Pre-Teaching internship!
