Take advantage of academic opportunities at Tech by registering for a Pre-Teaching course for spring 2015. Courses are offered through the Center for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning (CETL), are three credit hour special topics, and count as free electives. Courses are available to undergraduate and graduate students. There are no pre-requisites or permits required. Students should consult their academic advisor regarding academic credit within specific majors. Specific days, locations, and times appear in OSCAR.
CETL 4803 ISS: Contemporary and Critical Issues in Education
CETL 4803 ISS is a special topics course about critical and contemporary issues at the regional, state, national, and international level which have an impact on public education in the United States. This course will provide you with opportunities to learn from and with your classmates, instructors, and experts in the field while examining your own beliefs about public education. You will also acquire skills that will benefit you as learner in the 21st century and not just as a student in the course.
CETL 4803 PSY: Introduction to Educational Psychology
By exploring research across the disciplines of both psychology and education, students gain a rich understanding of the dynamic nature of the classroom and the foundations of a professional knowledge base regarding the physical, social, and cognitive developmental influences on student learning. This course also explores individual learner characteristics and the necessity for differentiating instruction based on student traits. This course will cover the material previously covered in CETL 4001 and CETL 4803 PR. Students who have taken CETL 4001 already cannot register for this course.
