The STRONGER Empowerment Tour is a panel event that was created to discuss the various issues prevalent in the black community. The panelists visit various college campuses to speak to young women and men about the issues that are at the forefront of their daily lives. This panel will encourage the students and the community to become more vocal about the problems while at the same time providing a platform to develop solutions. Snacks will be provided by the Women's Resource Center!

Project Healthy Grandparents - WRC Holiday Project

Each year, during the holidays, the Women’s Resource Center adopts a family headed by a grandparent raising her grandchildren. This is the fifteenth year of participation. There are many reasons grandparents become caregivers and second-time parents. The issues cross socioeconomic and racial lines, but many of the grandparents are on a fixed income and the holidays are difficult for them to manage.

We have been matched with our Grandparent family! Please let us know ASAP if you would like to participate! We have a sweet grandmother, and her grandson (16 months old) to provide a beautiful holiday season for! We can accept cash, check, gift cards, or specific gifts (see Colleen or Melanie for those NEW items).

Angie Epifano is an activist who was launched into the national spotlight after her open letter describing her experience as a sexual assault survivor at Amherst College went viral and sparked a long-overdue discussion about sexual violence at higher education institutions.

The Women’s Leadership Conference is an annual gathering several hundred women students, faculty, staff, alumni, and local businesswomen that exists as an opportunity to inspire and prepare these women to become strong leaders and equal partners in the community. The conference offers fifteen workshops, three keynote speakers, networking opportunities, and the Gail DiSabatino Women of Distinction Awards Ceremony. This year WLC celebrates the 16th annual conference with the theme “Reflections.”  The Conference will be on November 9, at the Student Center.  For more information: www.gtwlc.com

Since then, Womens Awareness Month has developed into an annual spring event that brings female role models to the Georgia Tech campus and develops programs that provoke questioning about and discussion of womens issues and women’s roles on the Georgia Tech campus and in society. Women's Awareness Month is now accepting applications for our 2013-2014 executive committee. Applications for the overall chair are due by Friday April 26,  at 5pm. All other position applications are due by Wednesday, May 1 at 5pm.  If interested, please fill out our application online. "Take Back the Night," a candle light vigil to honor survivors of sexual assault and educate the campus community about issues related to rape and sexual violence, is happening this evening.  The event will begin at 7.00 PM at the campanile.
