New Student & Sophomore Programs is excited to be hosting our annual Sophomore Leadership Forum THIS SATURDAY, JANUARY 24, from 10 A.M. to 4:30 P.M. SLF is a day-long leadership workshop focused on creating connections between second-year students and helping those students grow in their leadership and set goals for their future time at Tech. This year’s program will include teambuilding with ORGT and sessions on leadership styles from NSSP, networking from the GT Alumni Association, and developing your elevator pitch from Center for Career Discovery & Development. This is one program you don’t want to miss because it’s only available for SOPHOMORES!
To register for the program, visit www.nssp.gatech.edu and select Sophomore Leadership Forum under Sophomore Programs. Registration for SLF costs $10 and includes breakfast, lunch, all program materials, and a t-shirt commemorating your second year at Tech. Registration will be available online until Thursday, January 23 at 4 p.m.

New Student & Sophomore Programs is seeking 36 student leaders to join our Wreck Camp team this fall. Those selected will be the group facilitators, performers, resource contacts, and role models for our incoming students. Students who are ideal for the role have demonstrated leadership skills, are invested in the Georgia Tech experience, and are looking to give back to incoming students. Applications are available online at the Wreck Camp website (www.wreckcamp.gatech.edu) and are due by Friday, Nov. 7th at 5 p.m.

Sophomore Week 2012 is coming up quickly! It will take place the week of November 9th and last until November 16. NSSP will be doing some exciting programming for second-year students, including their signature leadership conference Sophomore Summit (Nov. 9-10), the Sophomore Trip (Nov. 11), and other exciting programs.

The Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History invites college sophomores and juniors with a passion for American history, and academic excellence in the field, to apply for the Gilder Lehrman History Scholars Program in New York City, which includes:
• 10 Gilder Lehrman History Scholarships to a five-week research program from Sun., June 26 to Sat., July 30, 2011.
• Up to 30 awards for One-Week Scholars to attend our program from Sat., June 18 to Sat., June 25, 2011.
History Scholars conduct primary-source research, meet with eminent scholars in American history, and explore archives and museums. One-Week Scholars will attend lectures by leading historians, discussions with professionals about careers for history majors visit select New York City archives and museums. All applicants will automatically be considered for both programs.

January 31 is the campus deadline for Udall Scholarship applications.

January 12 is the campus deadline for Goldwater Scholarship applications. There is an internal competition since Georgia Tech can only nominate four students for this award. Georgia Tech nominees generally have a 3.9 or higher GPA. Status as a sophomore or junior is determined by how many more years a student will be an undergraduate here.
