GT Unite is a celebration of all aspects of diversity at Georgia Tech. We are going to show off Georgia Tech and demonstrate how inclusive and amazing our overall culture is. Attend on Monday October 19 from 5:00PM-7:00PM at the Campanile:
Thirty-five organizations will be coming to provide FREE food, music, games, dancing, and art including:
- Pakistani Student Association,
- FirstGen,
- Chinese Student Association,
- National Panhellenic Council,
- LGBTQIA Resource Center,
- and more!
Also look for out for the events going on in each residence hall as each hall will have a diversity event during the week as well!

The Ivan Allen College Student Advisory Board (SAB) is now accepting applications for new members! Becoming a member is a great opportunity to be a voice for your major and for the liberal arts college as a whole. As an SAB member, you will work with other student leaders on different initiatives and events and get to know IAC faculty and administration, all while working towards the goal of improving our college community.

HISTORY CLUB AND PHI ALPHA THETA FALL TEA (AND COFFEE)
Please join us for Phi Alpha Theta and the History Club's fall tea on Monday, October 19 at 3:00. All HTS majors, minors, and students who are interested in history are invited. This is a chance for HTS students to touch base with each other and plan any special events for the rest of the academic year. Students, faculty, staff, and alumni are invited to participate in service projects around the city on Sunday, Oct. 18.
Each fall, TEAM Buzz provides a chance for the Tech community to give back to surrounding neighborhoods through hands-on volunteerism. This year, student organizers expect around 2,000 student, alumni, faculty, and staff volunteers to meet at the Kessler Campanile on Sunday, Oct. 18, before spreading out across the city.
Project signups are now open at teambuzz.org. Projects include activities such as planting, park cleanup, tutoring, sorting books and other media, and caring for animals. Those interested can sign up alone or with friends, co-workers, or family, and choose from more than 40 projects around Atlanta.
This year, TEAM Buzz is providing free child care to children of faculty and staff to enable their participation. Qualified students will serve as caretakers for the day and be stationed at the Student Center. Children will also participate in service activities, including making crafts and writing letters to hospital patients. The event runs from around 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Georgia Tech Earth Day Planning Committee
Georgia Tech's Earth Day celebration is one of the largest in the southeast!
The Earth Day Planning Committee is seeking new members to help plan the 19th annual Earth Day Festival, which will be held on April 22, 2016, at Tech Walk and Tech Green. All Georgia Tech students, faculty and staff are welcome to join. The planning committee meets every other week during fall semester and weekly during spring semester.
All are welcome to join! The first meeting will be Thursday September 17 from 11:00AM-12:00PM in Clough 325.

Applications for the third cohort of VOICE Peer Educators are now open! We welcome applications from any student who would like to actively work with us next year to create a safe and equitable campus environment. Every fall semester, VOICE expands our group of Peer Educators, a diverse group of dedicated students trained to educate other students on issues related to sexual violence.

The Georgia Tech Model United Nations (GTMUN) program competed at MUNE - Model United Nations at Emory this past weekend as their last competition of the season! Special congratulations to Brandon Liu (Verbal), Priyanka Juneja (Verbal), Nathan Fisher (Verbal), Anju Suresh (Honorable) , Andres Marcuse-Gonzalez (Honorable) , Taylor Prichard (Best) and Schuyler James Cottrell (Best) for their awards and recognition. The Georgia Tech Model United Nations team competed at UNC's Intercollegiate Model UN Conference this past weekend. Our delegates participated in a wide variety of debates that included Venezuelan politics, the USSR, and Wall street reforms. Special congratulations to Jenilee Trew (Verbal Commendation), Rohith Ravi (Verbal Commendation), Schuyler Cottrell (Honorable Mention), Hari Tiwari (Honorable Mention), Khaled Hamadeh (Outstanding Delegate) and Taylor Prichard (Outstanding Delegate) for their acknowledgements and awards! Taylor Prichard is an HTS student, congratulations to all!

Arjun Bir is a student at the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering who is passionate about finding solutions to the world's most pressing problems.
He just founded an organization called Open Source Development that he believes can revolutionize the way we tackle the world's most pressing problems by enabling collective problem solving on a global scale in a way that hasn't been done before. It is a radical approach to technology innovation and dissemination to impact human health, development, and well-being globally.
He has worked with the organization's mentors (who are among the most accomplished minds in the field of development) to create the model, and now they looking to form a talented and passionate team to build on these ideas and convert them into reality.
They are having a launch event this Friday between 4:00pm and 5:00pm at the Clary Theater in the Student Success Center, where they will be unveiling our model for the first time.

The Georgia Tech Student Foundation gives GRANTS to students and student organizations for activities or projects that enhance the educational experience by adding value to what is received in the classrooms, laboratories, and ongoing extracurricular programs. We meet twice a year to allocate funds for different Georgia Tech Student Initiatives.
Students and organizations can submit proposals and requests for funds for the Allocations committee to review. Afterwards, members of Student Foundation will listen to the presentations by the students and organizations, and discuss each proposal and make recommendations to the Board of Trustees.
Each semester, the Georgia Tech Student Foundation allocates an average of $16,000 to large and small student and group initiatives. Allocations are supported by the interest and dividends of the endowment.
This spring’s Allocations Application is available now. The deadline for applications is Friday, February 6, 2015 at 5:00 PM.

FASET is an acronym for "Familiarization and Adaptation to the Surroundings and Environs of Tech," an orientation program for new students and their parents, families, and guests. It is the first step in making a successful transition to Tech. Each freshman FASET Orientation session lasts 2-days, and several sessions are held on dates throughout the summer. Students stay overnight in a residence hall, and parents/guests have the option of arranging a hotel room at a variety of hotels that offer special rates for FASET participants.
During orientation, students will receive academic advisement, register for their first semester courses, and complete other important business. In addition, new students and their parents and guests will hear presentations from various campus services, student organizations, and institute departments on a variety of academic, business and social components. Most importantly, students, parents, and guests will have an opportunity to meet with faculty, staff, administrators, and current students as well as fellow incoming students and guests.

What is the Diversity Ambassador Program?
The Office of Student Diversity Programs is excited to offer this new and exciting program for students who aspire to assist with the Office’s student initiatives. A Diversity Ambassador is a student who understands the importance of diversity, equity and inclusion and is willing to participate in a two-semester program to work towards becoming more multicultural competent. A Diversity Ambassador is also committed to the Institute’s aspiration for diversity.
"We aspire to be an Institute that pursues excellence and embraces and leverages diversity in all of its forms. “In the years ahead, we must continue to enhance a culture of collegiality, close collaboration, global perspective, intercultural sensitivity and respect and thoughtful interaction among a community of scholars that includes all of our students, faculty, and staff.”

By participating in this program, the Diversity Ambassador agrees to attend trainings, workshops, meetings, and campus events that will increase their knowledge, awareness and skills surrounding issues pertaining to diversity on this campus and beyond. After completing the program, Diversity Ambassadors will be recognized for their achievement and will be acknowledged by the Office of Diversity Programs as leaders and champions for student diversity.
Only a few students will be accepted into the second cohort. Applications are due January 30, 2015 and must be hand-delivered to the Office of Student Diversity Programs. The link to the application is here.

The Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts at the Georgia Institute of Technology and the Candler School of Theology at Emory University announce a new initiative, the Leadership and Multi-Faith Program (LAMP). It is focused on the complexities of life, work, and leadership in a world where many faith traditions converge dynamically in geo-political space, whether our encounters are local, regional, or global.
The Candler School brings to this initiative expertise in Christian encounters with multi-faith religious traditions. The Ivan Allen College brings expertise in robust cross-disciplinary and cross-arena engagement.
The kickoff for this initiative is a public event, a half-day symposium. It is envisioned as the first of three symposia (Spring 2015, Fall 2015, Spring 2016) focused on the intersections of faith, leadership, and civic action. Each symposium will identify a specific lens through which to interrogate challenges and opportunities at these intersections.
