If you want to graduate in FALL 2015 or SPRING 2016, please read the following:

The OAG for fall graduation will be open through August 21.  The OAG for spring graduation will be open September 1 - January 15.  ALL STUDENTS WHO WANT TO GRADUATE IN EITHER SEMESTER MUST FILE AN OAG.

Information on the OAG and how to file it can be found on the registrar's website here: http://registrar.gatech.edu/students/oag.php.

Here are the steps that you need to follow. Please note that this system relies on YOU to be responsible for following through with all the steps. Don't do it? You won't graduate.

1. Familiarize yourself with the OAG. Go to http://registrar.gatech.edu/students/oag.php and read through the information. A downloadable instructional PDF can be printed out here: http://registrar.gatech.edu/docs/pdf/oaghta.pdf.

2. Complete the OAG via OSCAR. Instructions on where to access the OAG in OSCAR are in the document listed in #1 (OSCAR> Student Services & Financial Aid> Student Records> Apply to Graduate). If your major is listed incorrectly or you have a declared minor that is missing, STOP IMMEDIATELY and email the Office of the Registrar Degree Certification team at dc@lists.gatech.edu. If your minor is not appearing because you haven't yet declared it, then you must do that first (refer to instructions in point #1 with information on how to do this). Schedule an appointment with me to take care of declaring your minor.

3. Once you hit "submit," continue on to the Georgia Tech Exit Survey, using the link provided.

4. Schedule a *HALF HOUR* advising appointment with Dr. D'Unger at gatech.gradesfirst.com. This must be done no later than August 31, 2015  if you are graduating in fall 2015 and January 15, 2016 if you are graduating in spring 2016.

5. Access the online HTS post-graduation contact form here and the HTS undergraduate exit survey here. PRINT OUT BOTH FORMS AND COMPLETE THEM. BRING THEM TO YOUR 1/2 HOUR ADVISING APPOINTMENT WITH DR. D'UNGER.

IN SUM, YOU MUST:

  • complete the OAG,
  • fill out the Georgia Tech exit survey,
  • have a 1/2 hour appointment with Dr. D'Unger no later than August 31, 2015  if you are graduating in fall 2015 and January 15, 2016 if you are graduating in spring 2016, and
  • turn in both the HTS contact form and HTS exit survey to Dr. D'Unger (at the advising appointment).

In order to apply for FALL 2015 or SPRING 2015 graduation, you must submit an Online Application for Graduation (OAG) during the application window. The window for fall is open through August 21st.  The window for spring is open September 1 - January 15.

PLEASE NOTE THAT DEADLINES ARE STRICTLY ENFORCED.

Instructions are as follows:

1. Login to OSCAR
. Select Student Services & Financial Aid.
3. Select Student Records.
4. Select Apply to Graduate.
5. The first screen will prompt you to select a term. Select the current term, NOT the term in which you’d like to graduate. Later in the process you will be able to select either FALL 2015 or SPRING 2016 as the term you are planning to graduate.

*IMPORTANT NOTE: The program you are applying for must be officially declared. The second screen of the OAG will ask you to select your program on record. If the program on record is incorrect in any way, STOP immediately and contact dc@lists.gatech.edu . Your program should include your degree, major, any concentrations and undergraduate minors, but will not include certificates, CO-OP, International Plan, or Research Option.

Here are the instruction to check your Graduation Application:

*Login to OSCAR
*Select "Student Services and Financial Aid"
*Select "Student Records"
*Select "View Application to Graduate"

Fall 2014 Honor Cords Distribution

Posted by Admin On 11:38:00 AM 0 comments
Fall 2014 Honor Cords Distribution Schedule

Georgia Tech will provide honor cords for undergraduate students based on their previous semester’s cumulative GPA. Students are expected to pick up their honor cords at one of the following locations:

· Monday, December 8 - Friday, December 12 - Office of the Registrar, Tech Tower, Suite 104
· Friday, December 12 - President's Graduation Celebration, Student Center Ballroom (3-5pm)

Graduates are permitted to wear additional items if given by officially sanctioned Georgia Tech honor societies or student organizations. Degree Candidates are responsible for obtaining from the student organization any honors accessories to which they are entitled.

Please note that the distribution of honor cords for commencement and the notation of tentative honors in the commencement program are based on whether the student meets the minimum number of hours (60) and the required minimum GPA for the three levels of honor at the time they enter their graduating term. In other words, honors at commencement are based on the hours accumulated and the GPA that exists at the beginning of the graduating term.

GPA Requirement with a minimum of 60 institutional credits earned:

· 3.15 for HONOR (double white cords)
· 3.35 for HIGH HONOR (double gold cords)
· 3.55 for HIGHEST HONOR (double white and gold braided cords)

Graduating in the Summer? Check This Out!

Spring Commencement Participation Policy for Summer Graduates

Undergraduate and graduate students (MS candidates) who have two or fewer classes remaining to complete degree requirements after the spring 2015 term will be eligible to request participation in the spring 2015 ceremony. Undergraduates must have a 2.0 minimum GPA, and master’s students must have a 2.7 minimum GPA. Extenuating personal and family circumstances or issues related to the proximity of the student’s home to Atlanta will also be taken into consideration.

Doctoral students who are August 2015 degree candidates will be handled on a case-by-case basis depending upon when they are cleared by their major schools and the Office of Graduate Studies as having completed all of their degree requirements. Doctoral students must have a 3.0 minimum GPA to apply.

Summer 2015 graduates who do not meet these requirements will still have the option to participate in the fall commencement ceremony in December 11 and 12, 2015. Fall commencement ceremony information will be communicated to all summer 2015 degree candidates next July.

The form to request permission to participate in the spring commencement ceremony will be sent via email to all summer degree candidates who applied during the new application window from January 17 – February 28, 2015. Students who petitioned to graduate in Fall 2014 or Spring 2015, but who did not do so, will be invited to reapply for Summer 2015 graduation, as well as file the request form to walk in the Spring 2015 Commencement ceremony. The request form will be available on the Registrar and Commencement websites from February 28 to March 11, 2015. The Office of the Registrar will process the request forms and communicate directly with the students.

Due to space constraints, the number of summer degree candidates who can participate will be limited. In the event that we have more applicants than available tickets, Registrar’s Office staff will review the forms and select which students are allowed to participate based on the extenuating circumstances provided on the request form. Consultation with other offices on campus will occur as needed to ensure that all requests are given full and consistent consideration. Summer degree candidates will be notified prior to ticket distribution whether their request will be granted.
Questions? Please contact Luis Ocasio – Luis@gatech.edu or 404-385-7636
