2016 Accenture U.S. Innovation Challenge
Accenture is thrilled to announce the start of the 2016 U.S. Undergraduate Innovation Challenge – an event combining hands-on consulting experience with the opportunity to make a positive impact in the community and land an Accenture internship.

About the Competition
The Accenture Innovation Challenge is a multi-round event that combines hands-on consulting experience with the opportunity to make a positive impact on society. Students will work as teams to collaboratively develop a solution for a case based on a real-world challenge faced by our non-profit partner, World Wildlife Fund (WWF®). Students will apply individually and Accenture will make the final team assignments. We will ensure that all teams are comprised of students from a wide variety of skills and backgrounds.
If selected to participate in this multi-round event, students will be partnered with Accenture coaches and use their analytical, strategic thinking, and creative problem solving skills to innovate – and possibly help implement – solutions to real-world challenges that are faced by our non-profit partner, World Wildlife Fund (WWF®). Details about challenge dates, prizes and eligibility are available on our website.
Only students from select schools and programs are eligible to compete, and Accenture is pleased to extend this opportunity to GA Tech students. The application deadline for the two available fall internships at the AT&T Foundry is Friday, May 1, 2015. This is an incredible opportunity for any students seeking paid, professional experience at a world-renowned innovation center right here in Tech Square. The AT&T Foundry is a fast-paced and collaborative environment where AT&T and technology providers team to deliver the latest applications and services into the hands of customers more quickly than ever before.
Two successful candidates will be selected for the four-month internships:
- The first intern will be selected on the basis of their proposed project.
- The second will be selected based upon the criteria of academic performance, research hours, and leadership/involvement experience.
- Expected time commitment will be 15-20 hours per week.
- Compensation: $5,500

Participate in the 2015 Ideas to Serve Competition with projects that address social/environmental issues - locally or around the globe. The Competition provides student mentor-matching, workshops, access to a large network of local social entrepreneurs, and cash prizes to help launch their projects. Attend the 2014 Ideas to Serve Finals on Thursday April 17 at 6PM. The Institute for Leadership and Entrepreneurship is gearing up for Thursday's final round of the annual Ideas to Serve (I2S) Competition. I2S involves student/alumni teams with ideas for socially relevant products and services who compete for tens of thousands of dollars of prize money. The final event is a poster showcase session that is open to the public. There is even a "people's choice" prize to be awarded based on votes from visitors to the competition.

The Startup Semester is a new undergraduate startup
accelerator program at Georgia Tech. It is a tremendous opportunity for
undergraduates who have an entrepreneurial interest or desire to learn
more about product development. It's a 10-week program which provides
structure, space, and mentorship and it's very similar to some of the
recent programs developed in Stanford's "Lean Launchpad" and UT Austin's
"1 Semester Startup". This program sources mentors from the Atlanta
business community, ATDC, Startup Riot, etc.

Barnes & Noble is proud to announce an innovative new study tool: NOOKstudy
The program is part of a new wave of electronic learning tools that give the user much more flexibility than an ordinary textbook.
“Nook Study is a downloadable program that facilitates the use of ebooks. It takes e-textbooks a step further,” said Kate Curnow, Marketing Manager for Barnes & Noble @ Georgia Tech. “Purchasing ebooks via NOOKstudy frequently saves between 40 and 50 percent the cost of regular textbooks.”
The full-color program, which runs on Mac and PC, allows students to highlight and add notes to the text of a book, look up a word or phrase and even hyperlink text to websites.
“You can organize all the books by course or topic,” added Curnow. “It’s like a playlist for books.”
Tagging the text also allows students to search books by subjects, and the program can even build study guides. All types of books, not just textbooks, can run on the program, and right now, about 10 percent of Georgia Tech textbooks are available as ebooks for the Nook. Unlike competitor ebooks, those that run on NOOKstudy have the same page numbers as the print version, making them much easier to use for school.
The program launched at Georgia Tech this semester, and students can start using NOOKstudy at any point.
“The program is free to download,” said Curnow, adding that students can also download a free ebook for seven days as a free trial. The program also gives students the option to buy or rent books just like a library. Students can also purchase a College Success Kit from the bookstore, which includes Spark Charts, study tips, and more helpful information.
“Using e-textbooks can be cheaper and greener than traditional textbooks not to mention lighter weight than a backpack full of books,” said Curnow. “NOOKstudy is definitely the future of textbooks.”

Interns will gain invaluable experience as they become familiar with how a non-profit organization/think-tank works and gain an opportunity to attend CEO level meetings.
Day-to-day responsibilities will include general administrative support, research and writing, maintaining and updating databases, copying, filing, and, most importantly, staffing and preparing for Council events.
Potential areas for work include new business development/marketing, communications, government affairs, international affairs, policy development, and technology. Interns should be interested in deepening their exposure and gaining knowledge on a wide range of policy issues and working with the top leadership of the Council.
