HTS has NO REPRESENTATION IN THE SGA. This is a great opportunity for any HTS student to show off and enhance their leadership skills during the fall semester.

Both pairs of candidates received 30 percent of the student vote, with a total of 3,296 students participating. Elections for the runoff will re-open on Friday, April 15, at 1 p.m. and close on April 19 at 4 p.m. Winners will be announced that day at 6 p.m. Students can vote through www.elections.gatech.edu/.

The SGA Sustainability Committee needs your help in gauging campus interest, understanding, and involvement in the area of sustainability at Georgia Tech. The survey (link below) is intended for the entire network of Georgia Tech students, faculty, and administration.

The Undergraduate House has many important functions, including:

• Expressing the position of the the student body on issues affecting the student experience.
• Formulating the annual Student Activity Fee Budget during the spring semester.
• Allocating Student Activity Fee funds to chartered student organizations throughout the year.
• Modifying the structure and functions of Student Government.
• Approving all amendments to the Constitution and Bylaws of the Student Government Association.

This week, the Student Government Association (SGA) is hosting SGA Week 2015.

From Oct. 26–30, events will take place on Tech Walk and across campus to show students what SGA has been working on and what they hope to accomplish in the next year. All members of the Georgia Tech community are welcome.

The Campus Inclusivity Pledge is the first phase of a year-long initiative to better campus culture from the Student Government Association and Cultural and Diversity Affairs Committee. The pledge is asking Students, Faculty, and Staff to make a personal commitment to better the conversations that occur around inclusivity on campus.

The Undergraduate House of Representatives in SGA has a seat for every degree granting college, but the seat for History and Sociology is currently empty.

Students who want a chance to get involved in SGA, make a big impact on campus, and help clubs get funding for events they host should apply!

The Georgia Tech Earth Day Committee is now accepting submissions for its annual Leadership and Sustainable Initiatives awards.

Nominations are sought for individuals or groups who are making a positive environmental impact both on campus and beyond, either through a new initiative or a body of work. The deadline for nominations is Monday, March 2.

Nominees must be students, faculty, staff, alumni, or retirees of Georgia Tech and should demonstrate a positive environmental impact, a commitment to restoring and enhancing the environment, and an ongoing commitment to environmental leadership. Self-nominations are welcome. Individuals or groups are eligible.

Last year’s recipients were the Student Government Association's Sustainability Committee; Carson Meredith, professor in the School of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering; and the Georgia Tech Urban Honeybee Project.

The person or group selected for this year’s awards will be honored at Tech’s annual Earth Day Celebration on Friday, April 17.

SGA & OIE are working on an initiative to match international students with hosts in the GT community (faculty/ staff/ alumni/ other students) for a Thanksgiving meal.Georgia Tech is home to many international students. Over the holiday season, many students are unable to travel back home to their home country. 

In order to build a stronger GT community, we have created A Home for the Holidays. We are matching these students with other members of the Tech community for the Thanksgiving holiday! Students will go to the host’s home on Thursday November 27, 2014 to share a Thanksgiving meal.

The Undergraduate Judiciary Cabinet (UJC) serves two main purposes: upholding non-academic integrity and interpreting any actions or legislation of the USGA to uphold the system of checks and balances provided for by the Undergraduate Constitution. The UJC also has appellate jurisdiction over all lower courts. At any given time there are twelve acting justices and one Chief Justice.

If there’s a faculty or staff member who has improved your student experience but you’ve never taken the time to thank them, there’s an easy (and even anonymous) way to express that gratitude. 

The Student Government Association and the Center for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning partner to bring you Thank A Teacher, which lets students easily thank someone through an online form. Those who receive thank you notes are also recognized at Dean Griffin Day, an annual event in April commemorating the legacy of Tech’s first dean of students, George Griffin, who worked to improve the student experience at Tech.

“Hearing back from students is more rare than you may think, and the impact that your short note can make is more powerful than you can imagine,” said Ahsan Khan, SGA’s vice president of campus affairs.

For those who’ve had a great experience with a professor, teaching assistant, or staff member, the online submission form is now open, and students may even choose to remain anonymous. Thank you notes can be for any action large or small from the past year.

For the fourth consecutive year, Tech students have the opportunity to contribute to and award a group gift to the campus project they deem most worthy.

The gift's sum is a fluid number, as it includes $5 from every SAA member and a matching gift from alumnus Walt Ehmer (IE 1989). A team of SAA students compiled the list of potential recipients and worked with them to fine-tune the specifics of what the gift would fund in each area. The annual Gift to Tech program from the Student Alumni Association (SAA) lets students vote for which project will earn a bounty of more than $30,000. The gift is meant to provide a way for students to start giving back to Tech while still on campus.

This year’s potential beneficiaries represent the many varied interests of Tech students, including bicycle infrastructure, campus safety, an outdoor concert series, solar-powered electricity stands, tradition plaques, Tech's new Campus Kitchen, and the Student Government Association's Buzzinga competition. Full descriptions of how the funds would be spent for each are available at SAA’s website. Last year, $28,000 went to the Georgia Tech Band.

All currently enrolled students have until March 14 to cast a vote; they must log in to vote at gtsaa.com/vote with their Georgia Tech username and password. Voting will reopen on March 24 to SAA members only. Each member can cast one more vote for one of the top three projects from the first round of voting. Faculty and staff are not eligible to vote.

The 2014 Gift to Tech will be announced the week of April 14, with a celebration and presentation at the Kessler Campanile on April 17 at 11 a.m.

A team of 12 undergraduates is essential to upholding student integrity at Georgia Tech, and you could be part of this “jury of peers” by applying to the Undergraduate Judiciary Cabinet (UJC). SGA's Sustainability Committee will be hosting it's first semesterly Sustainability Forum! The event will feature Marcia Kinstler, GT's Sustainability Director, as well as a panel consisting of representatives from GT Waste Management and Recycling, GT Energy Conservation and Management, GT's Strategic Energy Institute and GT Capital Planning and Space Management.

There will be food served at the event, which has generously been donated by Fresh Market!

The Forum is today, 11/13 from 5:30-7 in the Clary Theatre, Bill Moore Student Success Center. Whether you are interested in hearing about sustainability initiatives on campus, meeting environmentally-conscious members of our community, or engaging with experienced panelists, this event is sure to be informative and exciting!
