The Dirksen Congressional Center invites applications for grants to fund research on congressional leadership and the U.S. Congress. The Center, named for the late Senate Minority Leader Everett M. Dirksen, is a private, nonpartisan, nonprofit research and educational organization devoted to the study of Congress. Since 1978, the Congressional Research Grants program has invested more than $998,026 to support over 451 projects.

Andrew W. Mellon Foundation has awarded the Georgia Institute of Technology a $1 million grant for a new learning center that will serve as an innovation engine driving digital humanities education and scholarship.

The opportunity includes a $5,000 stipend in the summer or a $7,500 stipend in the spring or fall to offset expenses (housing, transportation, and living expenses). This program is open to both undergraduate and graduate students of all majors. International students are eligible to apply for the Georgia Tech D.C. Internship Program; however, some federal offices only accept internship applications from citizens of the United States.

The Georgia Tech Student Foundation gives GRANTS to students and student organizations for activities or projects that enhance the educational experience by adding value to what is received in the classrooms, laboratories, and ongoing extracurricular programs. We meet twice a year to allocate funds for different Georgia Tech Student Initiatives.
Students and organizations can submit proposals and requests for funds for the Allocations committee to review. Afterwards, members of Student Foundation will listen to the presentations by the students and organizations, and discuss each proposal and make recommendations to the Board of Trustees.

Each semester, the Georgia Tech Student Foundation allocates an average of $16,000 to large and small student and group initiatives. Allocations are supported by the interest and dividends of the endowment.

System Specialist

In the last year Georgia Tech has seen steady growth in the number of electric vehicles (EV), with approximately 150 EVs parking on campus regularly. A recent grant of $39,675 from the Georgia Environmental Finance Authority (GEFA) to Tech’s Parking and Transportation Services will help the Institute expand its EV charging program by installing nine dual-port Level II chargers in visitor-accessible locations including near the Student Center, Howey Physics Building, and Bobby Dodd Stadium.

“We’re very pleased to have been selected from a quality pool of candidates throughout the state to receive this grant funding, which will allow us to best leverage our limited transportation dollars to meet the growing need on campus for charging,” said Lance Lunsway, director of Parking and Transportation Services. The GEFA Charge Georgia grant was available to Georgia colleges, universities, and technical colleges; state agencies and authorities; and cities and counties.

The James Madison Fellowship Program is a unique, federally endowed and privately funded effort whose goal is to strengthen teaching in the nation’s schools about the framing, principles, and history of the U.S. Constitution. The program achieves its mission by helping college graduates who wish to teach American history, American government, and social studies—as well as experienced teachers who wish to teach those subjects—master the contents of American constitutional history through study for a master’s degree. It thereby addresses one of the urgent needs of American education: to ensure that secondary school teachers are knowledgeable and informed about subjects that are important to civic life as well as to learning. Reminder! October 1: Fulbright English Teaching Assistantships application deadline

The Georgia Tech Student Foundation (GTSF) awards grants to student organizations and students whose ideas or projects enhance the Georgia Tech community. Grants are funded from an endowment that presently totals more than $1.1 million dollars. Members of the GTSF are responsible for raising funds to increase the endowment's portfolio and allocating the interest and dividends to worthy student projects.

The Student Foundation distributes over $16,000 dollars each semester to organizations that benefit the student experience at Georgia Tech. Over $600,000 dollars donated since 1986!
