HTS and LMC have collaborated to create a new minor in Social Justice.  The minor is for undergraduate students who are interested in incorporating an in-depth awareness of social issues into their fields of study and careers. Humanities and social science classes included in the minor address issues of equity and inclusiveness in relation to historical, cultural, social, economic, political, and/or techno-scientific factors. Students develop the analytic skills, social understanding, and creative mindsets needed to become informed, ethical, and innovative problem solvers and leaders in an increasingly global and technological world.

We have scheduled a Sports, Society, and Technology Panel for students to learn more about SST course offerings and sports-related research at Georgia Tech. This event will take place between 12:05-12:55 pm on Monday, February 23rd at the Instructional Center room 205. This panel will feature SST affiliated faculty member Lawrence P. Keller from the Scheller College of Business, and Jennifer Sterling, our SST postdoctoral fellow in History, Technology, and Society.

Interested in a Minor in Leadership Studies?

The Division of Student Affairs’ Office of Leadership Education and Development (LEAD) will be hosting information sessions on Tuesday, February 24 and Friday, February 27 held in Room 125, Clough Undergraduate Learning Commons. Join them to learn more about the Minor in Leadership Studies, a 15-credit hour academic minor open to ALL Georgia Tech undergraduate students.

Though it’s still a fairly new addition to the academic programs offered by Georgia Tech, the Minor in Leadership Studies has seen its fair share of student success stories since its start in 2010.

Parker Vascik (AE ’14), one of the first students to join the Minor in Leadership Studies, heard about the then-new minor during his sophomore year. Though at the time he was working hard on building his career path in the field of aerospace engineering, he knew immediately that the Minor in Leadership Studies was the supplement to his academic career that would allow him to pursue a vision of “engineering leadership”. In a recent talk, Vascik explained, “I knew from looking at my skills set I was talented in engineering, sciences, and math, so I could be a good engineer. But I was really good at communicating and inspiring other people…the leadership minor was the way I could fuse these two worlds and match my skill set with what I really want to do.”

Last week John Clary Umberger, Ann Louisa Brewton, Dr. D'Unger and Dr. Bier for attended the Ivan Allen College Open House to represent HTS majors and minors. 

The 2nd annual open house event for the Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts will be on October 16th from 11-12. 

On Tuesday, September 23 from 11:00am-12:00pm there will be an information session regarding a minor in Leadership Studies. 

The School of City and Regional Planning, with the cooperation of the School of Building Construction and the Scheller College of Business, offers a certificate in real estate development for undergraduates in good standing at Georgia Tech. The certificate is designed to provide specialized education in real estate development. The certificate makes our students more competitive in securing employment and in advancing to graduate education.

Students must complete twelve credit hours in required and restricted elective courses that must be taken from the College of Architecture or the Scheller College of Business. Students must maintain a minimum grade point average of 2.7. The certificate is awarded upon graduation or the next semester after graduation.

Students are required to take the following course for the Certificate in Real Estate Development:

They must also take one of the following two courses:
