Teach for America- Atlanta Institute is looking for Operations Coordinators for this summer.

The organization Students Consulting for Nonprofit Organizations (SCNO) at Georgia Tech is currently working with a great nonprofit, Teach For America. In order to help this organization, we are currently collecting data from students at Tech through a quick survey (literally less than 5 minutes). It would help out greatly if you would send an email to your students about this quick survey or just mention it in a newsletter so we can get as many responses as possible. February 20, 2014 is the final application deadline for Teach for America! This is a great opportunity for pre-teach students.

January 24, 2014 is the fourth of five deadlines to apply for Teach For America. Seniors should apply by this date and not wait until the February 20, 2014 deadline, which is designed for juniors.

Teach for Georgia and Teach for America will have a joint info session on Wednesday, January 30, 2013.

Come learn about these two-year service programs. The info session is geared towards STEM-field majors, but all majors are welcome to attend.

Teach for Georgia is a grant from the Georgia Race to the Top Innovation Fund and a great opportunity for Tech students and recent graduates who are interested in teaching. The state currently is experiencing a critical shortage of qualified teachers in secondary Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education. The shortage is particularly profound in rural areas. As a Georgia Tech student or alum, you are among the most highly qualified in the STEM fields and are able to help alleviate this problem. You can have the chance to have a positive influence on the lives of students by teaching a STEM subject in a rural Georgia high school for two years. Quality education should be accessible to all students regardless of socio-economic status or location.

Teach For America is the national corps of outstanding recent college graduates, graduate students, and professionals who commit to teach for two years in urban and rural public schools and become lifelong leaders in expanding educational opportunity.

This year, 9,300 corps member are teaching in 43 regions across the country, while nearly 24,000 Teach For America alumni continue working from inside and outside the field of education for the fundamental changes necessary to ensure educational excellence and equity.
