Do you have photos on your Facebook profile of you in a drunken state? Or are you tagged in a photo taken a friend’s stag night where the pole dancing was clearly taking place somewhere other than Warsaw? Perhaps after a frustrating day at work you once took to Twitter to lash out at your boss. Maybe your Linkedin profile is so empty that you actually look to be linked out?
Whether you are applying to business school or applying for a job, it might be time to review your online presence and clean up any embarrassing albums and outbursts, and demonstrate your level of professional engagement. Poor judgement online can even affect you keeping your job – just ask New York PR executive Justine Sacco about the damage you can inflict on your career by tweeting.

On September 9th from 2pm to 3pm we will hold our third Ivan Allen College Twitter chat between students and alumni. The Chat will coincide with the Georgia Tech Career Fair; thus the topic is "How to Network at a Career Fair."
As a reminder, our Twitter chats began in the spring through the Alumni Relations subcommittee of the CLASS taskforce between C2D2 and Ivan Allen. Stephanie Jackson, Amy D'Unger, Meredith Schnepp, Jade Hill, and I have continued development on this project. Each Twitter chat brings together no more than four alums at a time to answer both moderated and student questions for one hour through social media.
We hope you will consider tuning in to the Twitter Chat. Moderated questions will be tweeted by Stephanie Jackson through the @GTliberalarts twitter account, and all tweets will use the hashtag #IACcareerchat.

The cofounder of the app Yik Yak will be visiting campus on Thursday March 5 to give a talk at noon.
Creating online communities is hard. Creating online communities where users are anonymous is even harder. This talk will follow the ups and downs of attempting to build thousands of online communities across the country. When we started Yik Yak we had no idea what it meant to build online communities or reputation systems, we had to figure it out along the way. We made a lot of mistakes and learned a lot of lessons, the main one being that community always comes first.
Cofounder and COO of Yik Yak:
Brooks Buffington, originally from Atlanta, Georgia, co-founded Yik Yak in 2013 with his fraternity brother Tyler Droll shortly after graduating from Furman University. Brooks was initially interested in a degree in the arts, but during his sophomore year at Furman switched to accounting to work toward a career in finance. Shortly after graduating though, Brooks decided to put his finance career ambitions on hold to pursue app development full time. Brooks was listed as one of Forbes 30 under 30 for consumer technology in 2014.
