CEISMC Summer Intern

This is a great experience!  Several HTS majors have participated in the program and it has led to full-time post-graduation employment.

Education: High school diploma and at least one year of college.
Experience: Prefer the candidates have at least one year experience working or
volunteering with students ages K-12. Prefer students that are familiar with the Georgia Tech campus.
Duration: May 31, 2016 – July 29, 2016, 40 hours/week
Duties: This position will serve CEISMC’s elementary, middle, and high school
Summer Programs for Enrichment and Accelerated Knowledge in STEM (PEAKS). Summer PEAKS runs through June and July. Applicants must have prior experience working or volunteering with K-12 aged students. Applicants should have leadership experience, experience in providing quality customer service, and the ability to speak effectively with students, parents and instructors.

The CEISMC Intern’s role will include, but is not limited to: 1) checking students in and out with parents when they arrive/leave campus, 2) supervising group of students throughout daily activities, 3) taking students to the Student Center daily for lunch and monitoring them while eating, 5) taking students to various locations on campus for tours and lectures, 6) supervising students during recreation time at CRC Crawford Leisure pool, 7) keeping track of student meal cards, 8) assisting instructor during parent presentation every Friday, 9) fulfilling tasks associated with the day-to-day in-office operations of Summer Camps, 10) completing a summer-long deliverable at the end of internship.

This year’s summer intern project will include topics such as Marketing for Philanthropic
Relationships, Program Marketing Media Development, and Program Evaluation. We are seeking students with an interest and skill set matched for such projects. Please be sure to include you qualifications and/or relevant coursework for specific a intern project in your cover letter.

The CEISMC Intern is a valued member of a small team running Summer PEAKS. The intern reports directly to the Program Coordinator overseeing Student Programs. The intern must welcome positive direction and suggestions, possess a strong work ethic, and be customer service oriented. The intern is the direct contact for parents on a daily basis and represents CEISMC. Activities and decisions are varied in nature, which to some degree requires independent action and judgment in solving common problems. Some physical activities are involved such as walking long distances and lifting heavy boxes.

Interviews will be held in March. A background check is required for this position.
