Starting in 2015, the Metro RESA eligibility requirements for its metro Atlanta TAPP (alternate certification) program are changing along with exemption options for the GACE Program Admissions which will be state-wide. These changes are:
- To be eligible for the Metro RESA TAPP program, one needs a minimum 2.75 cumulative GPA from the degree granting institution instead of a 2.50. The state requirement to be a teacher in Georgia per the Georgia Professional Standards Commission will remain a 2.50. Applications for the 2015 MRESA TAPP program will be accepted January 1 – February 28, 2015.
- As of July 1, 2015, the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GPSC) will no longer offer an exemption for the GACE Program Admission for those who have master’s degrees or higher. All candidates enrolled in educator preparation programs (traditional or alternate) which begin on July 1, 2015 or later will be required to take the GACE Program Admission and the GACE in the particular content area of teaching if they cannot exempt the assessment using SAT, ACT or GRE scores. *This is a state-wide change.
- SAT - 1000 on Critical Reading (formerly Verbal) and Math (for re-centered scores prior to April 1995, click here.)
- ACT - 43 on English and Math combined (for recentered scores prior to October 28, 1989, click here.)
- GRE - composite score of 1030 on Verbal Reasoning and Quantitative Reasoning (before August 1, 2011) or composite score of 297 on Verbal Reasoning and Quantitative Reasoning (after August 1, 2011)
One cannot exempt the GACE in the content area of teaching.
