Seeking an undergraduate with excellent writing skills and an interest in the U.S. antislavery movement to conduct research for an NEH-funded digital humanities project. The project, a collaboration between students and faculty in LMC and Interactive Computing, aims to develop new ways to explore and visualize digitized historical documents. (More at http://dhlab.lmc.gatech.edu/projects/).
The student will employ online and print resources to conduct research on a set of nineteenth-century antislavery newspapers, write short summaries of those newspapers, and enter basic information about the newspapers' editorship and circulation into a database. (Work can be completed at home). Familiarity with FileMaker Pro (or other database software) desired but not required. Pay is $10/hour.
Interested students should send an email explaining their interest and qualifications, along with a short writing sample, to lauren.klein@lmc.gatech.edu.
