Vagina Monologues Today

Posted by Admin On 2:14:00 PM
The Vagina Monologues will be today, from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the Academy of Medicine.
Eve Ensler’s renowned production chronicles more than 200 interviews she conducted with women from all walks of life. It is designed to celebrate women’s strength and sexuality and has become a global movement to stop violence against women and girls and to educate and change social attitudes towards violence against women. 10% of the proceeds from each performance go to this year’s spotlight charity One Billion Rising. 1 in 3 women will be raped, beaten, or abused in their lifetime. That is ONE BILLION women a year. That is unacceptable. One Billion Rising aims to help women and men rise up to end the violence. The other 90% will go to a local charity, Tapestri, who strive to end the sex slave trade in Atlanta specifically through educational programs, workshops, and seminars to promote and engage action.
