Description:
Position: Scanning Intern
Project: State Records Digitization
Location: Reformatting Area
Purpose: To Digitize state records from a variety of original formats including flat documents, bound volumes and ledgers, and microfilm.
Duties:
Prepare original records for scanning:
- Removal of damaging fasteners such as paper
- clips and staples
- Unfolding and flattening of documents
- Re-foldering and re-boxing
- Labeling folders
- Oversize flatbed scanner
- Flatbed scanner
- Microfilm scanner
- Crop images and make adjustments
- Create derivative images
- Enter associated metadata into CONTENTdm
- Track work in database
- Proofread metadata
- Verify image quality
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Proficient with pc hardware and software
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Good manual dexterity
- Good communication skills
- Ability to take instruction and follow direction
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with scanning
- Experience with data entry
- Experience with Adobe Photoshop
- Knowledge of & interest in Georgia history
Rate and Time:
10.00 /hr. 15-20 hours a week.
