First Code Academy (FCA) is the first and leading education company that offers mobile app and programing development courses for pre-university students in Asia.
FCA is looking for students who are passionate about software engineering, have experience in tutoring pre-teens or teens (in any subject), and have an entrepreneurial and startup mindset. AppJamming Extensive is FCA’s flagship program, first launched in 2013 with the sponsorship of Google Hong Kong. FCA has been featured on CNN, in The Huffington Post, and many others.

An internship is an excellent way to discover is teaching is a good career choice for you. Interning abroad gives you the chance to travel, live in a different culture, and grow professionally and personally.
Internships can be from June – August (summer), June – December (6 months) or June – May (one year).
Interns do not have to be U.S. citizens or Permanent Residents to apply for FCA. Students should be aware that work visas may be required, and requirements/timelines for work visas may differ depending on citizenship.

If you are interested in applying for an internship, you must first email Susan Belmonte, Pre-Teaching Advisor, sbelmonte@gatech.edu regarding your desire to apply and include a resume and a letter of interest (cover letter) explaining why you want to intern and why you believe you are qualified.
Campus deadline: Monday, February 22, 2016
Students who apply through Georgia Tech will receive application support including material review and interview practice from Pre-Teaching and OIE. Students are welcome to apply directly to First Code Academy.
Final application deadline for First Code Academy: March 12, 2016
Once your resume and cover letter is reviewed, you will receive additional information on your next steps with the Pre-Teaching and the Global Internship Program of the GT Office of International Education. Campus deadlines are not the same as the final deadline of March 12, 2016.
First Code Academy, and not Georgia Tech Pre-Teaching or the Global Internship Program, manages the final selection process.
Additional requirements if chosen:
1. Register the internship with the Global Internship Program.
2. Purchase mandatory overseas insurance.
3. Write a blog throughout entire internship experience.
FCA provides:
- Extensive training, including classroom management and existing curriculum
- Accommodations upon arrival and support in finding housing during internship
- Approximately $1,500/month
- Flight and accommodation allowance upon arrival
- Visa acquisition assistance
- Application support
- Transcript designation as a global internship
- Support while abroad through the OIE if needed.
- Tuition-free internship audit course credit
- Overseas insurance at a minimal cost
- Assistance with questions about visas, cultural adjustment, and pre-departure/re-entry concerns
- Love to learn and expand knowledge in engineering and science
- Open minded and question the status quo
- Eager to shape the minds of the next generation
- Have a strong interest in mobile app development
- Fluency in at least one programming language
- Previous engineering teaching experience through a course, team training, etc.
- Work from 9:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m., 5 days a week
- Organize programs for students at top local and international schools
- Collaborate to meet the needs of the FCA students
- Guide students through development of a final project
- Inspire students to turn their ideas into real mobile applications
- Facilitate a dynamic and collaborative classroom community
