Student Success Center
According to the U.S. State Department, human trafficking is one of the greatest global human rights challenges of this century. Unfortunately, Atlanta's dominance as a transportation hub has made it one of the busiest centers of this multi-billion dollar slave-trading business. The Human Trafficking Symposium, presented by Skål International Atlanta in partnership with One Voice and the Women’s Resource Center at Georgia Institute of Technology on Sept. 24, 2015 from 8 a.m. until 12 p.m., will focus on what’s being done globally and locally to stop human trafficking.
The event, which will convene in Georgia Tech’s Bill Moore Student Success Center’s Presidential Suite, is free and open to the public, but registration is required in advance at http://www.skalatlanta.org/human-trafficking-rsvp.html. Participants are invited to stay for an interactive roundtable luncheon from 12:30-1:30 p.m. (cost: $40), during which they’ll discuss the issues, challenges and ideas presented during the symposium and propose potential solutions and next-steps. Findings from the luncheon will be compiled as a white paper and distributed to all symposium attendees in October.
The symposium is free and open to the public. Attendees are invited to stay for the interactive roundtable luncheon to discuss the challenges, opportunities and next steps that need to be taken ($40).
