Dr. Laura Carpenter from Vanderbilt University will be our HTS Seminar Speaker on Monday, April 6th. She is an Associate Professor of Sociology and Interim Director of Women's and Gender Studies. Her research investigates how individuals' sexual biographies are shaped by broader cultural and historical changes, such as the sexual "revolution" of the late 1960s-early 1970s, and the invention of "revolutionary" pharmaceuticals.
Dr. Carpenter will be sharing with us research from her newest book project on the historical controversies over male circumcision in the United States, Canada, and Great Britain. Her talk will undoubtedly spark a lively conversation. I hope you can join us.
