February 5 from 3:30-5:00PM
The Data Science for Social Good (DSSG) summer internship program creates teams of interdisciplinary students to work on problems from the social domain where data collection, visualization and analysis can lead to insights and better decision making. Last summer’s pilot included a project with the City of Atlanta to analyze 911 call center data to improve dispatching time, a project with Cycle Atlanta to visualize bicycle commuter data to improve rider safety and a project with Georgia Tech to analyze wi-fi data to understand space occupancy patterns for smarter facility planning. The culminating showcase event drew a standing room only crowd at the Atlanta Tech Village in mid July. Join us for a brainstorming session on projects, partners, data sets, mentoring opportunities and sponsorships.
