The Ivan Allen College and the Center for Career Discovery and Development are collaborating on career development initiatives for our students. Anecdotally, we know that current students prefer to learn from alumni as they begin to strategize about their career path. Some of you have expressed interest in speaking with students, so as we put together events over then next calendar year, we will seek out alumni for participation.
We'd like to get a pulse on how you might like to be involved. A few of the topics our current students have asked for your insight on include:
- Branding and Marketing Yourself: How to Leverage Your Degree in International Affairs
- Identifying, learning about, and reaching out to employers in your major
- Networking & the Elevator Pitch
- Careers in international business
- Careers in consulting (public sector, small/boutique firms, private sector, etc.)
- Careers in public affairs and public relations
If you are able to be in Atlanta, that would be a great opportunity to have you share your insight with students. We are also engaging students via social media, so if you are up for a Hangout or Chat, by all means let us know that, too! If you can help, join the LinkedIn discussion by commenting at this link.
