Since 1987, the Church Health Center has served underserved men, women and children in the Memphis, TN, area. The Center is a nonprofit and runs medical and dental clinics for working, uninsured populations. It also operates a publishing arm, which produces and distributes printed health resources, and its Wellness Center that offers exercise, health lifestyle and nutrition resources to the Memphis community.
The Center also runs Church Health Scholars, one-year, paid fellowship program for college graduates 0-3 years out of college. All majors are accepted, and applicants are invited to apply to one of three program tracks: Health Care, Nonprofit or Wellness & Community.
Scholars in the Nonprofit Track work in departments such as Communications, Development and Knowledge Ministry, while Scholars in the Wellness & Community Track encourage health lifestyle behavior through physical therapy, child life programs and nutrition guidance. Health Care Track Scholars spend their Scholar year working in the Center's medical and dental clinics.
Scholars are hourly employees of the Church Health Center and receive a full benefits package that includes health insurance, vacation and a 401(k) option.
