This event is a part of the G.Y.P. (Get Yourself Protected) campaign being implemented by Health Promotion. The goal of G.Y.P. is to empower Georgia Tech students to make healthy decisions regarding protection if they choose to be sexually active. HIV testing is available to eligible students at Stamps Health Services at a low cost on an ongoing basis.
AIDS Healthcare Foundation is a Georgia domestic non-profit, social change organization whose primary mission is to educate, encourage, enlighten and empower those infected, affected and/or impacted by HIV/AIDS.
Many sexually transmitted infections (STIs), including HIV, can be asymptomatic (which means a person could have a STI and not know it). One in five (21%) of those people living with HIV in the United States are unaware of their infection (CDC, 2008). The only way to be sure someone don’t have HIV is to be tested.
