Do you remember your first computer? First floppy disk? What about your first cell phone, video game console, or wearable computing device? In honor of Project One, the Georgia Tech Library invites you to participate in a crowdsourced celebration of our technological past. We wanted to reach out to you because we have a hunch that you might have some particularly exciting tech artifacts in your collection (or you might know someone who does)!
For the month of October, the Library will feature a display of treasured technology pieces from the personal collections of Georgia Tech faculty, staff, students, and alumni. Consider loaning an item (such as an old cell phone, a disk, a hardware component, etc.) from your collection to be featured for one week behind glass in our secure exhibit case. Your item doesn’t have to be particularly old, rare, or valuable; it just has to be meaningful to you. The exhibit will invite viewers--both in-person and online--to explore the personal side of our technological lives and inspire them to design the future by hacking the past.
If you’re interested in loaning an item from your collection, fill out this short web form by September 29th.
Feel free to contact Wendy Hagenmaier (wendy.hagenmaier@library.gatech.edu) with any questions, and please forward this email and the attached flyer to anyone who might be interested.
