BoR Math and English Policy

The Office of the Registrar is reminding you of the Board of Regents policy requiring students to complete their Math and English requirements according to the benchmarks below:

Effective for freshman entering Fall 2010, students who have earned 60 hours but have not completed Areas A1 (English--ENGL 1101 and ENGL 1102) or A2 (Math--MATH 1501 or MATH 1712) must enroll in the next course necessary to make progress toward completing this Area in every semester in which they take classes.

Effective for freshman entering Fall 2011, this hour limit is lowered to 45 hours.

Effective for freshman entering Fall 2012, the hour limit is lowered to 30 hours.

If students are not meeting these benchmarks, they must register for the next course necessary to make progress toward completing their degree during Phase I registration. If students are out of compliance and do not register for the course during Phase I registration, we will register them for a course for the Fall term. The Registrar’s Office will send email reminders to students who are not in compliance with the Board of Regents policy on March 24th.
