There are two internship opportunities coming up for the Spring 2014 semester in Development and Communications for the Atlanta Habitat for Humanity.  The mission of Atlanta Habitat for Humanity is to partner with working families, sponsors and communities to build affordable, green, quality homes and to provide support services that promote successful home purchase and ownership. Atlanta Habitat offers an intern the opportunity to work directly on sponsorship and fund development projects in a nonprofit environment and to be a part of our great mission

Development Intern Fall 2013/Spring2014
Internship Requirements
  • Currently enrolled student in a university program with a major focus in nonprofit management, public policy or a relevant content area. Must be a junior, senior or recent graduate. 
  • Available to work for 15-20 hours per week. Schedule can be flexible, but must be within our office hours of 8:30 am to 5:00 pm Mondays through Fridays. 
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook) 
Internship Information
No compensation is offered for this internship, but Atlanta Habitat will, to the best of its ability,
complete university requirements required for the student to receive course credit.
Internship term can begin in December and can run through May (flexible).
Intern will report to the Senior Sponsorship Manager and work closely with the Sponsorship Team.

Internship Assignments/Projects
  • Assist Sponsorship team with maintaining a grant reporting calendar for house sponsorship grants and collect information required in grant reporting. 
  • Conduct research on house sponsor prospects to determine contact information, leadership, projected giving levels and organizational details, such as size, giving priorities, etc. 
  • Write Facebook posts for each weekly house dedication ceremony and work with Development team members to provide a photo for each dedication. 
  • Send updated sponsor list & logos to Webmaster to make sure that sponsor list on website is updated quarterly. 
  • Update house sponsor build history documents. 
  • Prepare dedication materials including program map for board member leading the dedication. Send to Sponsorship Team to add sponsor history notes and send to board member. 
  • Maintain and update board dedication schedule. 
  • Develop list of approved comments to be posted on house sponsors’ facebook pages. Create list of facebook pages for all sponsors. Assist Sponsorship Associate with making post on each sponsor’s facebook page. 
  • Create invoices and order forms for sponsors who request Atlanta Habitat merchandise.

Communications Intern Winter/Spring2014
Internship Requirements 
  • Currently enrolled student in a university program with a major focus in marketing, communications or a relevant content area. Must be a junior or above. 
  • Available to work for 15-20 hours per week through the end of the winter/spring semester. 
  • Schedule can be flexible, but must be within our office hours of 8:30 am to 5 pm Mondays through Fridays. Preferred days are Tuesday – Thursday. 
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook) 
  • Knowledge of AP style 
Internship Information
  • No compensation is offered for this internship, but Atlanta Habitat will, to the best of its ability, complete university requirements required for the student to receive course credit. 
  • Internship term begins in January and runs through spring semester. 
  • Intern will report to the Marketing & Communications Manager and will also work with the Communications Consultant. 

Internship Assignments/Projects
  • Assist with research, writing and organization of content for the Spring Homefront newsletter 
  • Assist with writing and organization of content for the Winter and Spring editions of E-News 
  • Assist with press and media for the “It Starts at Home” Capital Campaign wrap-up 
  • Assist with general press releases – writing and dissemination to local media 
  • Assist with brochure and collateral material updates 
  • Assist with website content updates 
  • Write Facebook posts for various departments 
  • Maintain clips file of printed media coverage 
  • Review and update media contact list 
  • Research Atlanta Habitat’s presence on third-party websites and update as needed 
  • Assist with maintaining the Atlanta Habitat LinkedIn profile page 
  • Attend bi-weekly communications team meetings
