Girl Talk Internships

Having reached more than 40,000 girls in 43 states & 7 countries, Girl Talk is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that establishes free positive weekly peer-to-peer mentoring programs for middle school girls, which are led by high school girls. They help young teenagers build self-esteem, develop leadership skills, and recognize the value of community service. For more information, please visit www.mygirltalk.org.

Chapter Coordinator Internship at Girl Talk
Job Description:
As Girl Talk’s Chapter Coordinator Intern you will play a supporting role in developing closer ties with our national chapters. You will have an opportunity to gain experience in growing a national organization, and participate in implementing strategies for growth.

Primary Responsibilities as Chapter Coordinator Intern:
  • Assists Director of Chapters in Chapter inventory
  • Work with the social media intern to update social media outlets for Chapter related news
  • Work with other interns on one off special projects
  • Reach out to schools to start new Girl Talk Chapters
  • Set up in person/phone meetings with parties interested regarding how to start a Chapter
  • Respond to email and phone inquiries about how to start a Girl Talk Chapter
  • Follow up with inquiries made on Girl Talk website
  • Research for fundraising efforts 
  • Assist in Chapter fundraising implementation
  • Attend Girl Talk Chapter visits
  • Attend Chapter related meetings

Social Media Internship at Girl Talk
Job Description:
Take your education on a mission as Girl Talk’s Social Media Intern!
Girl Talk’s mission is to help young teenagers build self-esteem, develop leadership skills, and recognize the value of community service. By doing so, we hope to influence a generation of girls whose dialogue with one another is reflective of the kindness, respect, and compassion we all seek, and who will in turn model these behaviors for all they touch throughout their lives. You will be responsible for creating fresh, exciting content for all our Social Media channels, supporting the goals and mission of Girl Talk.

Qualifications:
  • Breathe flexibility, self-starter, organized, a good communicator, must own car, must bring own computer, efficient, self-motivated, creative and results-oriented
Primary Responsibilities as Social Media Intern:
  • A social media addict, who understands the ins and outs of popular social networks, and is comfortable diving head first into posting, tweeting, pinning, and blogging 
  • A social media intern looking for a part-time (20 hours/week) internship, based in our Atlanta, GA. office
  • Skilled at communicating thoughts in a friendly, punchy manner
  • A creative thinker who will find new, exciting ways to get the word about Girl Talk and its mission, while also promoting for upcoming events and opportunities
  • A data-driven nerd, who feels comfortable using analytics to test and identify content that excites our audience
  • A research fiend, who will look to “best in class” organizations to learn best practices and emerging trends in social media

Special Events Internship at Girl Talk
Job Description:
Take your education on a mission as Girl Talk’s Special Events Intern!
Girl Talk’s mission is to help young teenagers build self-esteem, develop leadership skills, and recognize the value of community service. By doing so, we hope to influence a generation of girls whose dialogue with one another is reflective of the kindness, respect, and compassion we all seek, and who will in turn model these behaviors for all they touch throughout their lives. Girl Talk’s Special Events Intern will work out of our Atlanta, Georgia office. This position will play a strong supporting role for the Girl Talk team during our upcoming and continuous events. The internship will give the selected intern a chance to earn valuable experience in event marketing, fundraising, and recruitment as well as professional-level experience in corporate networking and business practices.

Qualifications:

  • Must own car, must bring own computer
  • Work independently and possess strong time management skills efficient, self-motivated, high standard of excellence and attention to detail, creative and results-oriented
Primary Responsibilities as Special Events Intern:
  • Assists staff in event preparation and management
  • Develop high-quality content and work with social media intern to update social media outlets
  • Respond to email and phone inquiries about events
  • Assist in the development of events
  • Assist Staff in securing event in-kind sponsors
  • Research for fundraising efforts
  • Assist in Fundraising and recruitment (cold calls)
  • Assist in coordinating recruitment and promotional activities.
