The 2nd Annual Scholarly Symposium at the National Archives in Atlanta

Deadline for Proposals April 15, 2013.

Scholars in graduate programs and above are encouraged to submit proposals on one of the many possible topics that can be generated from our holdings. It is suggested that the scholar visit our online exhibit to acquaint themselves with a sampling of these holdings or visit the National Archives at Atlanta’s website and explore the descriptions for the record groups listed in the description.

Guidelines and Instructions
Please include in your proposal the following:
  • Proposal Title
  • Proposal Abstract
  • Participant information
  • Name, mailing address, phone number(s), and email
  • Identification (graduate student, doctoral student, or university/college professor)
  • University/College where enrolled or employed
  • Two professional references 
The entire proposal should consist of no more than five pages with a preferred length of three pages including references. Preference will be given to proposals using the records of the National Archives at Atlanta. Two proposals will be selected to complement the following presenters:
  • Denise Kiernan, author of The Girls of Atomic City (released March 2013 by Simon and Shuster)
  • Fritz Hamer, curator at the South Caroliniana Library, University of South Carolina and author of Charleston Reborn: A Southern City, Its Navy Yard and World War II, 1940-1946
  • Nathan Jordan, National Archives at Atlanta archivist.
