Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History

Every year, The Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History honors outstanding college seniors majoring in American history or American studies. Fifteen winners are chosen from applicants all over the country to participate in an award weekend in New York City celebrating their achievements.

Four day trip to New York City: June 7-10, 2013
  • Behind the scenes tours of the Gilder Lehrman Collection and other archives in NYC
  • Private seminars with eminent historians (last year's speakers included Kenneth T. Jackson, David Blight and Carol Berkin)
  • Celebratory dinner and presentation of History Scholar Awards
They want to honor students who are thoughtful and dedicated in their studies, who have also shown leadership in and out of the classroom. Ggraduating seniors apply here.
