Tsinghua University welcomes volunteers (faculty and students) to join come to Beijing from July 1 to July 19, 2013 for the annual English Summer Camp.  Tsinghua is one of China’s premier universities, and their students are talented, curious, and eager to improve their English skills.

The English Summer Camp is an intensive English language experience. The camp is for students who have just completed their first year at Tsinghua (approx. 2600 students). The university is inviting native or near-native English speakers to volunteer as visiting teachers and volunteers for the duration of the camp. Faculty members and students from partner universities are especially welcome. Visiting teachers will teach English classes, give lectures on topics of interest, and help with group activities. Volunteers will facilitate lecture discussion seminars and lead group activity such as competitions involving music, speech and drama.

Teachers should hold at least a master’s degree or be a currently enrolled graduate student, and volunteers should be currently enrolled undergraduate students. Meals, accommodations and a stipend of approximately $2000 for teachers and $470 for volunteers are provided. It is a chance for students to spend a few weeks in China helping students with their English.

Tsinghua University is a partner of Georgia Tech, but the program not part of agreement or exchange with Tsinghua University. Students should register with the Office of International Education as participants in an International Academic Project however. http://oie.gatech.edu/archive/sa/programs/otheroppsabroad.php?archive=1#3_3
