CALL FOR STUDY PARTICIPANTS
Relationship Violence and the Impact on Black Undergraduate Women
This study is seeking participants interested in research to eliminate violence against African American/Black women. The study will examine the experiences of undergraduate African American/Black women who have encountered and experienced relationship violence while in college. Relationship violence, also known as intimate partner violence, is a pattern of coercive behavior that is used by one person to gain power and control over another. It may include the use of physical and sexual violence, verbal and emotional abuse, stalking, and economic abuse. Sexual, emotional and psychological intimidation may also occur.
The study is conducted by Lorraine Acker at Iowa State University. Results will be used for the purposes of producing vital research on the experiences of undergraduate black women in college and to inform and improve educational practices with this particular population.
Participation will involve 3 semi-structured interviews which should take about 60‐90 minutes each.
