Gain experience teaching and mentoring!
Children's Restoration Network is a program that focuses on tutoring and mentoring homeless children living in shelters in the Atlanta area. Volunteers gain great experience working with students of all ages and in various academic subjects. Volunteers may choose the dates and times at which they would like tutor. Time commitment is once a week for 1.5 hours. Volunteers can choose a certain age range to tutor as well as whether they would prefer one-on-one or small group tutoring. There are a few shelters within walking distance of Tech, so transportation would not be required for volunteers who choose those locations.
This program is a great way to give back to the community and help to decrease Atlanta's homeless population. You could make a huge difference in one child's life just by showing up once a week and showing them that someone cares about their well-being.
