Foundation Fellowship Opportunity

The Robert W. Woodruff Foundation, Joseph B. Whitehead Foundation, Lettie Pate Whitehead Foundation and Lettie Pate Evans Foundation invite applicants for the annual Woodruff and Whitehead Foundations Fellowship. The fellowship is a one-year opportunity for a recent college graduate to gain work experience and exposure to the charitable sector in Atlanta. Applicants should be bright, mature and intellectually curious. The fellow will be included as a full member of a relatively small staff and will participate in a range of foundation activity, from administrative tasks to in-depth meetings with grantees and grant seekers.

The fellowship is intended to provide work experience to a recent college graduate interested in the nonprofit sector. Applicants should be bright, self-motivated and eager to assist foundation staff in a range of foundation activity. Among the duties and responsibilities of the position are the following:
  • Prepare for and participate with staff in meetings with grant applicants and visits to organizations seeking support. Draft memoranda summarizing such meetings.
  • Collaborate with staff to evaluate grants and compile grant reports.
  • Assist with general correspondence with applicants and grantees.
  • Conduct research projects on topics related to the Foundations’ grant-making.
  • Assist with office detail including correspondence, filing, photocopying and answering the telephone.
  • Attend all staff meetings.
  • Attend foundation association meetings and support the foundations’ participation in association activity.
Term of Appointment: One year, approximately August 1, 2012 through July 31, 2013.

Compensation: Competitive salary plus benefits, e.g. medical and dental insurance, retirement plan and parking.
