This internship will begin January 9, 2012 and end at the conclusion of the Georgia General Assembly 2012 Legislative Session (mid April). The internship is unpaid but may be performed for course credit.
Examples of Duties:
- Work under close supervision of the Government Relations & Policy Director
- Develop knowledge of the Legislative Process
- Develop a working knowledge of legislative information databases and searchable resources
- Keep abreast of new developments during the Georgia General Assembly 2012 Legislative Session
- Properly handle legislator requests through responsiveness, follow-up, and escalation
- Communicate information with other team members
- Assist with miscellaneous special projects as needed
- Field of study in Political Science, International Affairs, Economics, or a related field
- Must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program, or have completed an undergraduate or graduate degree program within the previous six months preceding the start of the internship.
- Must be able to maintain strong confidentiality with issues and information attained
- Must be able to work a minimum of 20 hours weekly
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs
- Ability to work with minimum supervision
- Effective written communication skills
