Info About Placement into MATH 1501

Freshmen who have AP credit for MATH 1501 or who have an SAT Math score of 600 or more can register for MATH 1501.

New this fall:  Students who have an SAT Math score of less than 600 have the option of taking a placement exam for precalc.  Passing this exam will allow the student to register for MATH 1501 in the fall 2011.
 
No academic credit is granted for passing this pre-calculus exam.

Optional GT Advanced Placement MATH 1113 Exam (2hrs, calculators are allowed but not required):

The MATH 1113 exam is open to any student with mathematics SAT score of less than 600. If the student passes the exam, he/she will be allowed to register for MATH 1501. Consult the MATH 1113 syllabus page: http://www.math.gatech.edu/course/math/1113.

No academic credit is granted for passing this precalculus exam.


Remark:  Students with SAT Math scores 600 or higher and students with credit for MATH 1501 SHOULD NOT take this exam.
