It’s that time of year again when many Georgia students pack up to enjoy some summer fun! Regardless of how far students travel, it is important that they are well informed about high-risks that can be encountered during summer break. A safe break should include: safe and sober driving, healthy decision-making, and planned strategies for personal safety.
Learn to Grow, Inc., is collaborating with local colleges and universities to engage students in a conversation about healthy decisions during summer break. One of the main goals of the town hall style conversation is to provide students an opportunity to empower one another with strategies for healthy decisions during summer break related to alcohol. According Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD), driving impaired will impact one in three of us. In addition, the conversation will address the perceived social norm of underage drinking on many campuses.
Learn to Grow will facilitate a conversation with local community leaders and students to help address the best strategies to reduce the number of alcohol related crashes and fatalities. The goal is to hear the voices of local college students from: Georgia Tech, Georgia State University, Emory, Morehouse, Spellman, Agnes Scott, Kennesaw, Clark Atlanta University, Atlanta Tech, and more. We encourage everyone to join the conversation to better understand the problem of alcohol related crashes and how college students can make a difference in eliminating alcohol related crashes.
“We are proud to partner with Learn to Grow, Inc because they are taking a lead in mobilizing the community to reduce alcohol related crashes. What a great opportunity for students from the Atlanta area to engage in a conversation to empower one another to reduce alcohol related crashes,” said Health Educator, Tammy Turner at Georgia Institute of Technology
