2 Effective Networking Tips

Would you really like to intern this summer, but you still haven’t gotten an offer?  Here are 2 easy and effective ways to use networking to find an internship!:
Networking Tip #1:   Think of 10-15 people you know including older siblings, cousins, aunts, uncles, neighbors, coaches, past supervisors, people from church, teachers from high school, friends, etc!  These should be people who know you on a personal level.  Send them each a separate personal email.  Start by asking about their life and filling them in on yours.  Then let them know what type of internship you’re looking for (i.e. an internship with an engineering company or an internship in accounting) and ask if there is anyone they would recommend you talk to.  This is a great way to get networking contacts within companies in your field!
Networking Tip #2:  Make an effort to talk to 10-15 students in your major to find out if they’ve already completed an internship or co-op position.  Ask what their experience was like, and then ask if they might be able to pass your resume on to their former co-op or intern supervisor.
