The Atlanta Girls' School (AGS) is seeking teachers for its "Smart Girls" Summer Camp. Men and women are encouraged to apply.
These camps are for girls in 3rd through 6th grades.
These camps are for girls in 3rd through 6th grades.
In the mornings, they do science sessions (two sessions with a break/snack in between). Each session is about 1 hour and 15 minutes in length.
In the afternoon, they have arts/drama/physical education/dance sessions.
The first camp session is June 6-10
The second camp session is June 13-20
Since campers may attend both weeks, we need to have different lessons and activities for each week. There will also be a Sports Camp, the week of June 23-26.

AGS is looking for Georgia Tech students (and alumni) interested in teaching the Science, "Arts" and even Sports camp sessions. Each teacher will have the assistance of 2 AGS high school students. The salary is ~$500 per week. Note that someone who teaches both a morning Science session and an afternoon session would be paid more.
Teachers will need to design their own lessons-- some examples of Science lessons from past years include "design your own dream room", computer programming, robotics, crime scene investigation, etc. Lessons should be hands-on and activities-based. Here is a chance to be creative and develop leadership skills in a classroom.
Although this would be a short summer job, it could definitely fit in around taking summer classes if you're only teaching in the mornings or afternoons. AGS faculty will be available to observe you and provide feedback/serve as references-- this could be very helpful.
Beth Spencer is collecting a list of interested Tech students which she will then send to AGS, so if this opportunity appeals to you, email her at beth.spencer@provost.gatech.edu.
