The Atlanta Fire Department and Airgas, a distributor of industrial, medical and specialty gases and related equipment, will participate in the drill. Since this is a logistical exercise, the campus community should anticipate numerous emergency response and fire vehicles in the vicinity during the training period. The exercise was scheduled during the academic Spring Break to minimize disruptions on campus.
Also, to make the simulated HazMat release more life-like, we will have a controlled atmospheric release of Nitrogen, which may create a small white plume in the area. The Georgia Tech Police Department Office of Emergency Preparedness will conduct a hazmat exercise, Tuesday, March 22, from approximately 10 a.m. – noon. The training will take place in the parking area near the J. Erskine Love Jr. Manufacturing Building (MRDC) located at 771 Ferst Drive.
