The GT Body Image Committee is sponsoring the first at the end of this month engaging students in learning about body image issues and body affirming messages. The schedule of events has been designed around several learning outcomes.

GT Campaign for EveryBody Kickoff Event: Monday, February 21, 11am-1pm, Student Center
GT student volunteers will staff tables at the Student Center with an interactive activity. Promotional materials will be available to encourage participation in week’s events.

Calling all Gleeks! Join us to watch an episode of Glee and discuss the messages it sends about body image. It is co-sponsored by Student Center Programs Council.
Eating Disorder Screening Day: Tuesday, February 22, 11am-2pm, Piedmont Room, Student
Center
A screening will be administered by the GT Counseling Center for students to assess their risk for disordered eating. It is co-sponsored by the Counseling Center. Visit www.collegeresponse.org to take the online screening.
Open Mic Night: Tuesday, February 22, 6pm, H20 Café, CRC
This program will give students an opportunity to express feelings and emotions surrounding body image issues. It is co-sponsored by Erato.

Screening of Natural Woman: Thursday, February 24, 7pm, Student Center Ballroom
You’re invited to watch a documentary exploring the challenges women of color face when deciding to wear their hair naturally. Afterwards there will be a panel discussion with GT students/staff and the film director, Cindy Hurst. It is co-sponsored by Diversity Programs, the Department of Housing, Women’s Resource Center, and the African American Student Union.
Tech Chef Cooking Competition: Saturday, February 26, 9am-4pm, Brittain Dining Hall
This program is a nutritional cooking competition for GT students. Participants and spectators are welcome. Visit www.techchef.gatech.edu for more information. It is co-sponsored by CHEFS (Cooks for Heritage, Fellowship and Service).

This blog will expose GT students to the positive and negative effects of body modification on body image. It will also give students, faculty, and staff the opportunity to share their personal experiences with body modification.
GT Body Peace Treaty: Sign by “liking” it on the GT Campaign for EveryBody Facebook page!
The GT Body Peace Treaty encourages positive self-image among GT students. It includes self-affirming personal statements to help students feel good about themselves. Those of all genders can sign the GT Body Peace Treaty.
