If you're interested in pursuing alternative certification-- meaning teaching full-time and earning a salary while getting your certificate--and you can live in parts of Georgia other than the metro-area, consider the Georgia Teaching Fellows program. If you're accepted into the program, they will secure your job for you.

This program is seeking applicants for the Augusta, Savannah, or SW Georgia areas (SW Georgia includes the Albany and Columbus areas, as well as and Meriwether County). These are all high-needs school districts, and the program is especially interested in people who want to teach Math, Science, and Special Ed (although some other teaching fields are available, including Early Childhood). To start teaching this fall (August 2011) you need to be available to do the summer training program. This program is open to career changers and Spring graduates.
If you have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher (preferably a 2.7 and above), you're eligible.
The priority deadline to file an application is March 21.
