Undergraduate Assistant: workshop design and project assessment/evaluation
Compensation: $10/hr
Time period: Fall 2010 with potential for continuation in spring and/or summer,
Work schedule: Negotiable, 6 - 20hrs/wk
We are seeking an undergraduate student to perform work supporting the SciTrain University (STU) federally funded grant project. STU is working to increase the knowledge and understanding of faculty members, staff and administrators regarding challenges faced by students with disabilities in STEM courses and effective strategies for removing barriers to learning in classrooms, laboratories, hybrids and online education environments.
Qualifications
• Excellent communication skills (particularly with oral and written language comprehension),
• Data entry and transcription experience preferred
• Statistics and research methods background – at least one course
• MS Office - particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint preferred
• Dreamweaver, HTML, PHP, Python, JAVA, Javascript, Perl (several of these but definitely HTML preferred)
• Experience relating to students with disabilities preferred
• IRB certification preferred (can acquire after hire)
• Experience with T-Square as a designer preferred

• Test and review materials for accessible design
• Convert various materials into web-ready and accessible materials
• Critical review of surveys, focus group protocols, etc
• Data entry and organization
• Basic quantitative data analysis
• Transcription of focus group and interview data
• Coding and synthesis of qualitative data (will teach)
• Assistance with classroom observations
• Creation of animated tutorials
• Close caption recorded materials (will teach)
• General office duties as required
