USDA Food & Nutrition Service Internship

USDA’s Food and Nutrition Service oversees a wide variety of programs that provide children and low-income people access to food, a healthful diet, and nutrition education.  In this internship, interns will work with the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (formerly the Food Stamp Program), the National School Lunch Program, the Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC), food distribution and disaster assistance programs, among others.  Interns work individually or on teams to research issues and assess program operations at State and local agencies in the Southeast Region. Tasks include developing training presentations, interviewing State and local staff and other program stakeholders, and analyzing data and writing reports.

FNS’ Student Career Experience Program (SCEP) combines academic classroom learning with practical, on-the-job experience and provides you with paid work experience in your field of study. You may also earn credit hours as determined by your school. The SCEP may lead to permanent employment after you successfully complete your education and meet the work requirements.
