2010 SPRING SEMESTER INTERNSHIP AVAILABLE

The Technology Association of Georgia (TAG) is seeking a student intern for the Spring 2010 semester. Ideal candidates will demonstrate a keen interest in public policy and the legislative process. The selected candidate will report directly to TAG’s Director of Government Relations.

PLEASE NOTE: The internship will be an unpaid position. Contact Dr. D about getting HTS credit!

Company Information:
TAG is a 501(c)6, non-profit trade association, with 8,500 members, representing 1,600 tech and tech-enabled companies. As a leader in the technology industry, TAG serves as an advocate for positive public policy change that will transform the technology community and will enhance the economic climate of Georgia.

Job Responsibilities:
Work a minimum of 20 hours per week through Spring semester 2010
Attend committee hearings and meetings of the Georgia General Assembly at the State Capitol Conduct detailed policy research and analysis, relevant to the technology industry
Maintain state bill tracking and provide communication updates to members
Assist with data collection and upkeep of reference materials
Aid in the coordination of grassroots/advocacy efforts
Provide assistance in outreach to federal and state elected officials
Support the Director of Government Relations with execution of legislative strategic plans

Required Candidate Qualifications:
Currently enrolled GA Tech student majoring in Public Policy, International Affairs, or related field Fluent in English with strong written and oral communication skills
Prompt, dedicated and courteous
Innovative in thought
Ability to multi-task assigned project list
Thorough in completion of project work
Proficient in Microsoft Office products
