Imagine It! The Children’s Museum of Atlanta
Internship Description - Exhibits Department

Imagine It! is seeking an intern to work in our active exhibitions department, helping to develop and implement an exciting new exhibition on children’s health, but also assisting with our traveling exhibition program.


Health Exhibition Intern
Goal of the position: Assist the museum’s exhibition department in developing and implementing the in-house exhibition, Health Detectives a exhibition relating to children’s health, nutrition, and discovery.

Activities include:
-Researching key science concepts related to learning about how a child’s body works
-Helping to design (and later build) exhibition components
-Develop educational labeling for different exhibition components
-Assist in creating educational handouts to enhance learning at home
-Work with the manager of exhibits on exhibit installation

Time commitment:
-Up to ten hours per week, Monday through Friday
-No less than two months minimum
-Internship times available October-December, 2009 and January – May 2010

Qualifications:
-College students working towards a bachelors or masters degree
-Excellent writing skills with a good grasp of grammar
-Ability to use Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator
-Ability to work with tools
-Ability to work independently and in a team-based environment

Additional responsibilities:
-Provide support to the Exhibits staff
-Interface with other departments as needed
-Attend Exhibits/Education meetings, offering input and opinions, during the days you are in the Museum
-Other duties as assigned
