Posted by Admin On 3:33:00 PM
Yes! Atlanta is seeking tutors to work alongside at-risk teens, offering homework help and general assistance mastering important academic concepts.

Event date(s): Every Monday and Tuesday that Atlanta Public Schools are in session
Event time(s): 5:30-7:00 p.m.

What volunteers will do?
Tutors will work one-on-one or with a small group of junior high and/or high school students.

Skills needed?
Patience, reliability, willingness to actively engage students in the learning process, ability to tutor in one or more subject areas--math, science, reading, social studies, etc.--at a high school level. Our greatest need is for math tutors.

Training provided?
Formal training provided is minimal, though we are happy to offer resources to assist tutors in their service.

Numbers of hours/days per week?
1.5 to 3

Length of commitment?
We prefer that tutors commit to be onsite for at least one of the two sessions on a weekly basis, but can accommodate volunteers unable to help every week.

Transportation needed?
Volunteers will need to arrange their own transportation to the program site(s), located at 395 Pryor Rd SE and 201 Moury Ave SE in Atlanta.

Compensation?
Monetary compensation is not provided. Volunteers may enjoy snacks provided at the tutoring sessions.
